STYLING
Description
The main aim through the styling is to create looks that highlight the positive attributes of vintage clothing. The looks need to feel elevated and well put together while also feeling accessible and easy to recreate. The intention of the runway is to celebrate vintage fashion and show some unique pieces, however the looks can’t be overwhelming. I want the the styling to stand out to the audience but more importantly, I want them to leave feeling like they can recreate these looks with their own pieces. They will want to create the same feelings they received in the show in their own styling as they leave feeling content and inspired.
Vintage pieces have a history and story, to highlight these attributes through the styling each of the pieces will be carefully selected and put together so they compliment each other. Certain pieces will be chosen as the statement pieces to add a main personality to the look while creating a focal point.
A number of items will be reused throughout showing that one item can be used in a number of different ways; seeing some items multiple times will make them feel familiar to the viewer and therefore feel comforting.
A focus for the styling will the be the colour palette. A constant colour palette throughout will help with the flow of the show and help each look compliment one another. Coherence is important as the looks needs to feel like they’ve come out of one persons wardrobe, therefore the palette will represent their personality. It will feel more personal this way and the audience can be inspired to create the same in their own wardrobe. The tones of the styling will be rich, warm and earthy. This will portray the positives of vintage with its routes in quality and inclusivity.
